PLM System’s methodology for Product Data Integration (PDI) allows to design systems for managing product data integrated with existing company applications (MRP, BOM, CAD/CAE/CAM systems) through the use of interfaces based on international standards (STEP, IGES).

  • Goal: output availability of product development process for transaction enterprise systems, both legacy and packed (ERP/MRP, BOM, AF&C) and collaborative systems (CRM, SCM).
  • Tools: EAI (Enterprise Application Integration), XML Adapters and integration point-to-point.
  • Benefits:
    • Integration with / migration from "legacy" applications:
      • BOM
      • MRP and ERP Systems
      • DBMS Applications
    • Data modeling
    • "Virtual enterprise" conception
    • Data access from existing proprietary applications without the need for modification
    • Data migration from proprietary applications
    • Integration between heterogenic PDM/PLM systems
    • Visibility and sharing of product data with all company functions

  • Goal: data exchange concerning product geometry between different Supply Chain actors and the enterprise departments. Define and document the production process.
  • Tools: Data Exchange through translator point-to-point or based on IGES/STEP standard, CAPE systems.
  • Benefits:
    • Interoperability between heterogenic systems
    • Standard based data exchange tools (STEP, IGES)
    • Knowledge Base for data exchange with suppliers
    • Data Exchange between different CAD/CAE/CAM systems
    • Software personalization
    • Creation and start-up support of Data Exchange Centers
    • Rapid data exchange activation between different company departments and to/from suppliers
    • Reduction of time dedicated to "clean up" and re-digitalization of drawings
    • Improvement of quality and reduction of time necessary for exchanging data
    • Improvement of product reliability
