ePDM Governance is an integrated approach for managing complex PDM/PLM projects that reduces the risk of failure.
The ePDM Governance team operates together with the PDM/PLM Program Manager, and represents the “focal point” of all the people involved in the project: process owners and end users, internal/external BPR managers, PDM/PLM vendors, integration software vendors and system integrators, as well as suppliers of implementation services.
The PLM Governance activities include:
  - Definition of the strategic Plan and project reference status
  - Work Team Technical Coordination
  - Process Data Model Definition
  - Requirement Management
      - Requirement Definition for systems supporting the product development process (CAD/CAE/CAM, PDM/PLM, Virtual Product Development, …)
  - Risk Management
  - Definition of Migration Plan for existing systems

The Governance must continue after the system goes into production in order to guarantee software configuration control and change process management (technical-economic assessment, priorities, tracking changes).
